Language School Miami — Rennert: English under the palm trees
The sun sets slowly, casting a surreal pink and violet explosion of colour across the sky. On the sandy beach under the palm trees, in the city behind the impressive skyline, in restaurants, bars, cafés, theatres and on the streets, another legendary night in Miami is beginning – the city where everything is louder, more colourful, more imposing, and more intense. The stage is set for a language study abroad in a city that’s in a class of its own.
Additional Information and Course Offers
The name Miami is derived from an American Indian language meaning “large body of water”. As is so often the case, the American Indians chose a particularly appropriate name, since the ‘Grass River’, just a few centimetres deep, flows through the breathtakingly beautiful Everglades in the surroundings of Miami beside the Gulfstream. But Miami is much more than a city by the water. It is a multicultural melting pot of Caribbean, Cuban, Latino and Afro-American fashion, music and culture. It is one of the most exclusive backdrops for a unique language study abroad.
Ocean Drive – What to see and what to do
A particularly beautiful stage for your language study abroad is Little Havana with its welcoming atmosphere of warm colours, Cuban music and lifestyle. Quite different, but no less exciting, is the Miami Design District. Here, aesthetics are the key, whether it concerns furniture or whole buildings. This district has devoted itself to all things beautiful and special, and a walk through this district is never boring. The many sights are also great to use as conversation topics so you can practice English so much you get to know it like the back of your hand.
Getting to Miami
Sit yourself down in the front row and experience this city up close. You can get to Miami via Miami International Airport, around 11 kilometres north-west of the city. Various German airlines fly there from Frankfurt, for example. You can get to downtown Miami by taxi in about 15 minutes and in about half an hour by public transport. Just a little bit further on is the city’s absolute highlight: miles of white sandy beaches and our partner school, the Rennert Miami Language School waiting for you on Miami Beach.
Miami Beach – the Eurocentres language school
The neighbourhood where the Eurocentres partner school has been built in Miami could not be more exclusive or more suitable. Learn in an authentic, relaxing and motivating environment – literally in paradise. The beach is just a ten-minute walk away. Parks, restaurants, shopping centres and clubs are just as close on foot and are bound to fill your leisure time as well as the rest of the town is. Running out of things to talk about is not just highly unlikely in Miami – it’s impossible.
Learn English between Cuba and Haiti
You’ll find countless opportunities to practice your English skills away from Miami Beach. Areas worth a visit include the famous Coconut Grove, with restaurants, historic building, shopping and quiet relaxation, or the Wynwood Art District and the Art Deco District, which will give you a chance to explore some amazing architecture. For a touch of the high life of luxury you could also visit Millionaires Row to see the height of Miami decadence. Little Havana and Little Haiti with their enchanting street cafés, galleries, restaurants and residents, also offer plenty of opportunities to go out, explore and learn about two cultures that have come to influence the city, its culture and its food so much. Even though Spanish and Creole/French are the dominate languages of these areas they are still worth a visit and most everyone speaks English as well. English learning and culture in all its forms and nuances: that is Miami.

A typical day at Rennert Miami
Laura from Brazil raves enthusiastically when asked about her language stay in Miami Beach: Her time on the ‘American Riviera’ is simply too perfect. She is here to study for the Cambridge First Certificate. Many other students also report on how they feel so much at home in Miami. The people in this city are cosmopolitan and uncomplicated – you can quickly make contact and get into discussions if you wish. The sun and hot climate appear to warm the heart and make everything seem a little easier.
Easy going – this is how Laura experiences her stay here. She lives in a nearby guest house. An agreement between the school and various hotels and guest houses with two to four stars provides the students with accommodation at attractive prices. Laura is enjoying having her own space, with bathroom and kitchen, where she often cooks for herself – and sometimes for her friends. Laura enjoys her lessons, she finds that they are structured to make the material exciting. She also notices how her language skills are improving on a day-to-day basis thanks to speaking English all the time. And she is very pleased about that.
