A typical day at Eurocentres Berlin
Gilbert, who comes from France, would like to improve his German skills at the language school in Berlin. Which is why he is spending three months of his gap year here. He lives with a host family – an elderly couple who are both retired. At first, he was surprised at the beauty of the city with its surrounding romantic landscape and small, cosy towns. In the metropolis itself, he likes the huge variety of sights and cultural opportunities. The television tower, Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, remains of the Berlin Wall, museums, exhibitions, concerts, festivals, street artists... Trendy shops, all types of art, music events, more than 150 theatres, 200 art galleries and several world-famous, historical monuments all make this unique city what it is. The opportunities for relaxation are also impressive: various lakes within the city – for example, the Wannsee – invite you to wander, linger or, in summer, swim. Forests and parks make the city green.
Gilbert is amazed that the teachers take the ideas and wishes of the students into consideration during the lessons. He had not expected the individual learning requirements to be so flexible. This is something that he finds very positive about the language school here in Berlin. As a film buff, Gilbert is particularly pleased that the school has its own film club. At the club he meets up with other students who are just as enthusiastic about films as he is.
