Day excursion to Mdina
Dates:
Every Saturday, subject to a minimum of 12 persons

Program:
Mdina with its narrow streets, commanding palaces and small shops is situated on a elevated plane and visible from afar. Prior to Malta being taken over by the Order of the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem in 1530, the town was the political and cultural center during the Phoenician, Roman and Arabic periods.
The centrally situated St. Paul’s Square features the monumental facade of the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul. This cathedral with its immense dome was constructed during 1697-1702 on the foundations of a Norman church by Lorenzo Gafà, an architect of the late Baroque period. The inside of the cathedral, lined with frescos, depicts scenes from the life of St. Paul and contains tombstones of knights and dignitaries. The 15th century Palazzo Falzon with its ornamental beading and twin windows is a Norman-style masterpiece. Sitting in the atmospheric yard, containing a well and stone stairs, it feels like in the Middle Ages.
Apart from exploring the historic town you will also be able to enjoy a sandy beach close by in summer or take a short hike through the Maltese hinterland during the winter months.
