Students from most countries will need to apply for a visa before travelling to South Africa. Students who hold passports issued by the following countries and who intend to stay in South Africa for less than 90 days do not need a visa but will be issued with a Temporary Residence Permit for Visitors on arrival: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and Venezuela. Students who hold passports issued by the following countries and who intend to stay in South Africa for less than 30 days do not need a visa but will be issued with a Temporary Residence Permit for Visitors on arrival: Poland, Turkey and South Korea. All students are strongly advised to check the current visa requirements with the nearest South African Embassy or Consulate before departure as the regulations do change from time to time.
